Transylvania is a historical region that lies in the central part of the country, being surrounded by the arc of Carpathian Mountains. The name comes from Latin and it means “the land beyond the forest”. The region is home to some of the most best-preserved medieval towns: Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Cluj-Napoca. It is well known for its spectacular sceneries, amazing castles and rich history. Transylvania is also multi-ethnic, the three languages spoken in the area being Romanian, Hungarian and German.
